I came across this guide book that explained the menstrual cycle and it just confirmed everything I had been feeling about cleansing my womb. its worked so well for me that I cant not share.
It began when I had started my actual spiritual journey and I was cleansing from the inside out and my IUD was no longer sitting well with my spirit and it felt like i just needed to remove it. Meanwhile, I had already made the switch from regular tampons to organic.. once I had my IUD removed, I decided I would stop wearing tampons altogether and go with pads.
Anyway, once I removed that… and began taking better care of my body, what I put in it, taking more intentional baths and meditated with crystals on my womb… I had my period and I had no cramps and it only lasted 3 days. Yea 3 fuckin days!! To me that was foreign so it only encouraged me to continue on the womb cleansing path. I made herbal infusions that supported the phase of my cycle I was in and I noticed a huge difference and I enjoy my periods now
First, a short lesson on Yin and Yang and how it presents itself in day-2-day and in our menstrual cycle. Yin and Yang are obviously opposites and cannot exist without the other. When one peaks, it transforms into the other and continues in that cycle of balance.
Yin: Feminine Yang: Masculine
Our bodies are insanely intuitive and it’s up to us to honor each phase to recalibrate the body and hormones.
Quick what’s what:
Menstruation – basically when you’re bleeding, we know this ladies
Follicular – the body produces more estrogen aka hormone and prepares to release an egg
Ovulation – occurs when an egg is released from ya ovary, if fertilized yo ass is pregnant lol
Luteal – lining of uterus gets thicker to prepare for POSSIBLE pregnancy or prepares for your period
Qi – the vital life force, binds up all things in the universe aka ENERGY!

Menstruation – Period
Progesterone and Estrogen have dropped.
Main focus during this phase is clearing and movement of Qi.
Will have less energy during this phase, especially because you’re on your period. Honor it. Exercise and activity should be gentle and promote restoration.
Eat foods high in iron, red leafy greens and beets.
Herbs:
Dandelion root
Red raspberry leaf
Burdock root
White peony

Follicular phase – Pre ovulation
Estrogen building but Progesterone remains low.
Boosting Yin *feminine* and blood during this phase.
Estrogen is Yin in nature and this is where it peaks.
Time for reflection and goal setting.
Herbs:
Angelica root
Nettle leaf
Chaga mushroom
Red clover

Ovulation – Early Luteal
Switch from Yin dominate to Yang dominate (which happens right after ovulation)
Maintaining Yang *masculine* energy and boosting .
Use this time and energy to create, connect with others and share yourself in ways that are fulfilling.
Move and stay active and keep mental and physical Qi high.
Herbs:
Ginger root
Cinnamon bark
Licorice root
Astragalus

Luteal phase
This phase is about maintenance.
Yang descending if you ain’t gettin pregnant.
Hormones dropping – means lol you know how we can get.
Maintain Qi and Yang levels.
Move liver Qi to prevent Qi stagnation.
You’re entering a Yin phase now and that means PMS
Processed foods, sugar and alcohol promote stagnation so limit these during this phase.
Herbs:
Rosebuds
Wild yam root
Passionflower
Schisandra berry
I take all these herbs in tea form during each phase
Hot infusions are best for dried flowers, leaves and roots
Cold infusion are better for fresh herbs or aromatic plants. (I do cold infusions when I make my hibiscus tea)
