Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
A little background on my childhood, my mom was not the biggest cook. My dad and both my grandmothers really lit that fire for me. When I was young I was the tester, i’d hang out on the counter and just watch and taste. Through my early independent stages when I lived in the bay and wanted to start making my own food, I would FaceTime or call my meme and she would walk me through how to pick and identify good veggies from the ‘picked over’ ones or how to squeeze a lemon to see how juicy it was before I put it in my basket.
I would prop my phone up on the counter and she would walk me through all the steps of whatever it was I making. I remember making stuffed bell pepper for the first time and I was like ok this aint bad lol.
Eventually, on my path to enlightenment my wellness has become the most important thing for me. Especially what I eat – cooking has been a vital but very rewarding practice as I find solitude in being in my own kitchen.
Now I cook 95% of my food and I’ve been establishing my own cooking habits and style!
Here are a few things I aint learn from my grannies:

Give yourself enough time to cook!

Listen to music or whatever inspires creative energy for you.

Buy fresh quality ingredients + Organic if you can.

Prep is key: Organize/assemble ingredients before hand.

Rinse and clean all grains and veggies before cooking.

Keep it simple and work with what you know.

Clean as you go – your own method.

Skip processed short cuts like instant rice.

Do not rinse pasta after boiling.

Invest in a cast iron or get one from granny.

- Heat pan
- Heat oil
- Add ingredients

Sautee onions first then add garlic.

Stay consistent and cook often, even when you don’t feel like it.

It won’t always turn out how you planned and that’s okay, find a way to spruce it up. add more seasoning here or there. keep modifying to your liking.

Eventually you will build a catalog of your own go-to recipes.

Have fun.
